Athens-Clarke County, Georgia
Clarke County is a county in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the population is 101,489. The 2005 Census Estimate shows a population of 104,429. Its county seat is Athens, Georgia, with which it is a consolidated city-county.
History In 1990, the citizens of Athens and Clarke County voted to unify the two governments creating Athens-Clarke County, becoming only the second unified city-county government in the state of Georgia after Columbus-Muscogee County.
