Bartow County, Georgia
Bartow County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of 2000, the population was 76,019. The county's explosive growth is evident, as the population of the county rose to 91,266 as of the 2006 estimate. Bartow County has held a spot in the top 50 fastest growing counties in Georgia, oftenly ranking in the 20's, but this year, it ranked 19th. The county seat is Cartersville.
History
Bartow County was created from the Cherokee lands of the Cherokee County territory in 1832 on December 3rd, and called Cass County until renamed in 1861 on December 6th in honor of Francis S. Bartow. The original county seat was at Cassville.
