Burke County, Georgia
Burke County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of 2000, the population was 22,243. The 2005 Census Estimate shows a population of 23,299. The county seat is Waynesboro.
History
Burke is an original county of Georgia, created February 5, 1777. During the American Civil War, the county provided the Poythress Volunteers and the Grubb's Hussars, which were a part of Cobb's Legion.
