Gilmer County, Georgia
Gilmer County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. The 2005 Census Estimate shows a population of 27,335. The county seat is Ellijay.
History
It was created on December 3, 1832. Fort Hetzel was located at the Center of East Ellijay in Gilmer County. The Fort was abandoned March 24, 1842 and an historical marker currently designates the former location.
