Lee County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. The 2005 Census Estimate shows a population of 31,099. Its county seat is Leesburg.
History
The counties' boundaries were created by the Georgia General Assembly on June 9, but they were not named until December 14, 1826. The county was named in honor of Richard Henry Lee, American patriot and statesman, led early resistance in Virginia to British rule. He introduced into the Continental Congress the resolution declaring American independence..
