Putnam County, Georgia
Putnam County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of 2000, the population was 18,812. The 2005 Census Estimate shows a population of 19,829. The county seat is Eatonton, Georgia.
History
Putnam County is named in honor of Israel Putnam, who was a hero in the French and Indian War and a general in the American Revolutionary War. The County was created on December 10, 1807 by an act of the Georgia General Assembly.
