Named for: Matthew Talbot
Talbot County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. The 2000 Census showed a population of 6,498. The 2005 Census Estimate shows a population of 6,709. The county seat is Talbotton, Georgia.
History
Talbot County was created by a December 14, 1827, act of the Georgia General Assembly from a portion of Muscogee County. Taylor County was created from a portion of Talbot County in 1852. The County was named after Governor of Georgia Matthew Talbot.
